John has a background in Podiatry and has worked in the NHS for some 30 years. Over that period he had an active role in formulating policies and protocols as a senior union representative and as such was involved in the many changes that have been implemented, within the NHS and the manner in which healthcare is now delivered.

In 1989 when faced with an operation which might end his career as a Podiatrist he replied to the very first advert for the hypnotherapy training courses at Twa Acres Hypnotherapy Training Centre. On completing the course, he had only a short time to wait before the full value of hypnosis as a therapeutic tool was revealed to him - in a very personal way.

While having a hand operation done under local anesthetic, the surgeon made the first incision before the anesthesia was effective. Fortunately self hypnosis allowed John to control the pain and request that they wait for the anesthesia to work. The calm way in which this was asked for, was contrary to what should have been experienced in non-effective anesthesia. Following this, John subsequently went on to use hypnosis in surgical procedures, noting that healing times were very much reduced, and discomfort for his patients minimal.

Having set up a part-time hypnotherapy practice, he was a regular attendee at Twa Acres Clinical Hypnotherapy Training Course, expanding his knowledge and taking an active part in the training and promotion of hypnotherapy at Twa Acres, and health fairs throughout the country.

Whilst working in the NHS, John was very aware of the growing needs of the people he was seeing, and the failure of society to recognise the pressures it was putting on them, so, in 1998 he made the decision to commit himself to furthering the understanding and training of Hypnotherapy and when, the founder of the centre decided to step down from her prime position, he accepted the proffered post of Training Course Director of Twa Acres Hypnotherapy Training Centre. He continues to maintain a busy hypnotherapy practice, a keen and active involvement in NHS and hypnotherapy developments.
